Americymru ( http://americymru.ning.com ) is an American Welsh social networking site that is committed to uniting all persons with a love of Wales and providing a friendly online meeting place in which to communicate. The site invites membership principally though not exclusively, from persons of Welsh birth or descent in the United States and others who are concerned to preserve and extend knowledge of the Welsh cultural heritage.
Americymru has recently launched a series of "magazine" style pages on their network at americymru.ning.com. The intention is to cover a wide variety of topics relating to traditional and contemporary Welsh culture. Currently available or slated to appear soon are sections on Books, Humor, Music, The Welsh Language, Crafts, Genealogy and Photography.
A series of recent interviews with Welsh and Welsh American artists and craftsmen includes exclusives with:-
David Llewellyn Nashville based singer/songwriter and winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Competition ( Folk Category ) 2008. His prize winning entry - "Take Us Down" , an emotional account written from the father's point of view of his sons first day working in a colliery.
David Western Based in Vancouver B.C, David is a master Lovespoon craftsman whose first book entitled "Fine Art of Carving Lovespoons: Understanding, Designing, and Carving Romantic Heirlooms" will be published by Fox Chapel Publishing on October 1st this year.
